Leadership: Mastering Teamwork

Find out how to critically assess program growth opportunities and develop operational plans, utilize the principles of SWARM intelligence, lead, manage and motivate teams in complex hospital environments and communicate effectively in the Mastering Teamwork course.

Prominent faculty deep-dive into many of the leadership skills and practices in this session to provide participants with a better understanding of team and organizational dynamics and how their personal leadership skills can strengthen teams and improve organizational growth/success.

Mastering Teamwork is recommended for hospital medicine professionals with three or more years of experience as well as hospitalist leaders looking to advance their career to the organizational strategy level.

After this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe a useful conceptual framework for a healthy hospitalist group culture, and approaches to achieve it in your own practice.
  2. Identify things to promote hospitalists thriving at their work and reducing risk of burnout
  3. Describe some ideas for a successful career in hospital medicine.

Part 2: A Collection of Ideas for Operating Your Group and Career

After this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe options for coverage at multiple locations and APC roles
  2. Identify issues related to how new patients are assigned to providers and its effect on continuity.
  3. Describe less common approaches to common practice management challenges
